How a NASA engineer became the go-to Ford Raptor and EcoBoost tuner

GooseTuned was founded in 2011 by Winfield Raglin III, known in the Ford performance community as "Goose," out of Las Cruces, New Mexico. What started with one guy and a Subaru STi has become one of the most respected names in Ford Raptor tuning, F-150 EcoBoost tuning, and custom ECU calibration across the entire Ford truck and SUV lineup.

Before any of this, Winfield spent 17 years at NASA. He started at 20 years old as a Network Engineer, eventually moving into Hardware Engineering where he built virtual data centers for NASA's Ground Station systems. That background shows up in every tune he writes. He's analytical to a fault. If the data doesn't support a calibration change, it doesn't happen.

Cars were always the thing, though. The STi led to an R35 GT-R. When Ford put the twin-turbo 3.5L EcoBoost V6 into the second-generation F-150 Raptor in 2017, the overlap with Winfield's GT-R experience was obvious. He bought one, started working with COBB Tuning on their Raptor development program, and by 2018 GooseTuned was writing Ford Raptor tunes that outperformed everything else on the market. The foothold grew fast.

Today Winfield tunes 8 to 10 hours a day. He develops every calibration on his own personal vehicles first and handles every customer directly. There's no support team between you and him.

How custom EcoBoost tuning works

GooseTuned does remote custom ECU and TCM (Transmission Control Module) tuning for Ford EcoBoost trucks and SUVs. Whether you're looking for a Ford Raptor tune, an F-150 EcoBoost tune, an Explorer ST tune, or a Bronco Raptor tune, every calibration is built for your specific vehicle, not a canned map.

You buy a GooseTuned tuning kit that includes hardware (COBB Accessport or HP Tuners) and your first custom calibration. You flash your truck, run some datalogs, and send them to Winfield. He goes through everything: fuel trims, knock counts, boost behavior, air-fuel ratios. Then he builds a calibration dialed into your vehicle's actual behavior at your altitude, with your modifications, on your fuel. Most customers go through 4 to 7 revision cycles before the tune is fully dialed. That's a lot more back-and-forth than most Ford Raptor tuners or F-150 tuners offer, and it's a big part of why the results are different.

Calibrations are available for 91 octane, 93 octane, E30, E50, E85, and full flex fuel setups. There's also a dedicated performance tow calibration for people who haul.

Ford Raptor, Explorer ST, and Bronco Raptor performance records

Anybody can claim horsepower numbers. Here's what we've actually put on a dyno or a drag strip.

On the Gen 3 Ford Raptor 3.5L EcoBoost platform, GooseTuned was the first tuner to hit 450 whp, 500 whp, 550 whp, 600 whp, and 650 whp. We were also first to run aftermarket turbochargers on the Gen 3 Raptor and first to produce a 600+ whp 3.5 EcoBoost Raptor on a completely stock, sealed motor.

A Gen 2 Ford Raptor running a GooseTuned custom tune on stock turbochargers with bolt-ons and E50 fuel put down 520 whp. Stock turbos. Before that, most people assumed you had to go aftermarket on the turbos to get anywhere near that number.

GooseTuned customer Luke Litten bought a retired Ford Police Interceptor Utility with the 3.0L EcoBoost and 130,000 miles on it for $10,000. With a GooseTuned Explorer ST tune, it ran 10.84 at 128 mph in the quarter mile on stock turbos, stock long-block, and stock transmission internals. Over two dozen 10-second passes followed. It was the first stock-turbo 3.0L EcoBoost Explorer to break into the 10s. FordMuscle.com covered the build in December 2025.

A GooseTuned 2021 Ford Raptor 3.5L ran 11.4 at 117 mph, making it the first Ford Raptor in the 11-second quarter mile.

A GooseTuned Bronco Raptor with a custom Bronco Raptor tune and supporting modifications made 658 hp on the dyno, the highest recorded output for a 3.0L EcoBoost Bronco Raptor.

On the Ford Raptor R, a customer running a Whipple 3.8L supercharger with E85 and a GooseTuned Raptor R tune put down 918 whp and 716 wtq.

Certifications and tuning platforms

GooseTuned is a COBB Certified Protuner and Authorized Dealer with access to COBB's professional AccessTuner Pro software. COBB Accessport tuning is available for the Ford Raptor, F-150, Explorer ST, Bronco Raptor, and Ranger Raptor. Winfield visits COBB's Austin, Texas headquarters regularly to collaborate on platform development.

We're also an Authorized Master EcuTek Tuner and use HP Tuners MPVI3 and RTD4 hardware for the Ford Raptor R and newer Ford platforms where COBB doesn't have support yet.

Why Ford Raptor and EcoBoost owners choose GooseTuned

GooseTuned has 919 Facebook reviews with a 100% recommendation rate. Here's why.

Every tune is actually custom. Whether it's a Ford Raptor tune, an F-150 EcoBoost tune, or an Explorer ST tune, when you send in your datalogs Winfield builds a calibration for your specific truck, accounting for your altitude, your mods, your fuel, and how you drive. That means 4 to 7+ revision cycles per customer. Most Ford Raptor tuners or F-150 tuners do one or two.

Winfield tunes every vehicle himself. There's no support team routing your email. The guy who spent 17 years at NASA and developed every GooseTuned calibration from scratch is the one reading your datalogs and writing your tune.

Customers routinely report getting responses within 10 minutes, even on weekends and holidays. Across every Ford forum out there, this is the thing people bring up most about GooseTuned.

All development happens on Winfield's own vehicles first. He owns over 10 Ford trucks and SUVs for tuning R&D: a 2025 Ford Ranger Raptor, 2024 Ford Bronco Raptor, multiple Ford Raptor Gen 2 and Gen 3 trucks, a Ranger 2.3L, F-150 2.7L EcoBoost, Bronco 2.7L, and Ford Explorer ST. If we sell a tune for it, we own it and drive it. The Explorer ST alone has been on the dyno close to 600 times during calibration development.

Across every major Ford forum (Ford Raptor Forum, Bronco6G, Ranger6G, ExplorerST.org, F150 EcoBoost Forum), there is not a single documented case of a GooseTuned calibration causing an engine or transmission failure. Winfield builds in conservative safety margins and proper knock control. He'd rather leave power on the table than risk someone's motor.
